18th Edition Training

08 February 2018

With just a few months to go until the launch of the 18th Edition many contractors will be wondering what additional training they might need.

Much will depend on what training and updates a contractor has already undertaken, but when it launches in July all electricians will have to be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the updated regulations.

For some, this might mean upgrading from the 17th Edition (or even earlier editions) by way of training and examinations, while for others it might involve demonstrating they are well versed and conversant with the changes of the new standard.

However, an ability to show a level of understanding and awareness of the changes should be a priority for everyone involved in the electrotechnical industry.

To this end – NICEIC and ELECSA will be providing contractors and electricians with a wide range of options which means they can get the best training and advice possible.

This will include:

18th Edition Update Course

NICEIC and ELECSA Training will be running a range of 18th Edition Update Courses which will provide an overview of the changes and what contractors will need to do to ensure their work complies with the new regulations.

These training will be delivered by industry experts and enable contractors to learn in an environment whereby topics can be discussed and debated with other professionals. The training and associated exam will be available at locations across the country.

18th Edition Full Course

This course will give contractors knowledge of how to apply the requirements of BS 7671 (18th Edition) to electrical installations. After completing this course, contractors will be able to demonstrate a much better understanding of the latest edition of BS 7671.

Contractors and electricians will be able to undertake this course from July 2018 once the Regs Book is launched.

18th Edition In-Company Training

For larger organisations there might be a need to get a large number of employees up-to-speed with the latest changes. This can be costly and time consuming – with large numbers of employees requiring time away from the business at the same time to get the appropriate training.

To meet this need NICEIC Training can offer onsite training to meet the specific needs of an organisation. Onsite learning can be delivered at a time and place to suit you, saving on travel and accommodation costs. All of the courses are delivered by leading industry experts and mean all training needs can be met in one short timeframe.

Online Learning

NICEIC and ELECSA have been at the forefront of providing many of its courses online in recent years and a recent survey revealed that a staggering 84% of contractors would like any updated 18th edition training to be available online.

Online teaching means users can choose to learn at their own pace and do not need to take time off work. Those who sign up for the online training can then take an exam (if required) at a location and time of their choice.

Our online learning facility provides a practical solution to the demanding challenge of trying to fit in learning around work and we will be developing the system to ensure the learning is clear, concise and easy to access.

Both, 18th Edition Update and 18th Edition Full Course, will be available on our online learning platform.
