Intended to be issued only for the purpose of reporting on the condition of an existing electrical installation.
The electrical Installation Condition Report, or what we refer to as the EICR form is only to be used for reporting on the condition of an existing installation.
The form is designed to record, inspect and detect as far as reasonably practicable, any factors impairing the safety of the electrical installation. The aspects to be covered include
Safety of persons and livestock against the effects of electric shock and burns
Protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect.
Confirmation that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated so as to impair safety.
Identification of installation defects and departures from the requirements of BS 7671 that may give rise to danger.
The EIRC must not be used instead of an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate for certifying new electrical installation work, or as a substitute for a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate for certifying an addition small pause] or an alteration to an existing installation.
It is important that a Generic Schedule of Test Results and a Condition Report Inspection Schedule should accompany the Electrical Installation Condition Report.
