    Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular as consumers are looking for new ways to reduce rising fuel bills. Because of this, the demand for electric vehicle charging points is also increasing and this has opened up a lucrative new business opportunity for electrical contractors.

    This course will teach you how to install electrical vehicle charging points in compliance with BS 7671, the Electrical Safety Quality and Continuity Regulations and the new IET Code of Practice. 



    This course is aimed at contractors looking to expand their business to accommodate the installation of electric vehicle charging points. 



    The course will cover the requirements of BS7671 with regards to the new section on electrical vehicle charging points, discussing how the electrical supply can be delivered from both private and public supplies. By the end of the course you will understand how to install these points in compliance with BS7671, the Electrical Safety Quality and Continuity Regulations and the new IET Code of Practice.

    There are no formal entry requirements to attend this course, however candidates should have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and the principles of electrical installation work.

    Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme

    The Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) provides grant funding of up to 75% towards the cost of installing electric vehicle charge points at domestic properties across the UK.

    Workplace Charging Scheme 

    The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) is a voucher-based scheme that provides support towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points, for eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations.


    For all schemes applicants MUST have:

    • Proof of membership of the Electrician Associations (e.g. NICEIC/ECA/Select)
    • Proof your company's installers have been trained to install electric vehicle charge points; names of installers, their qualifications and renewal dates.
