This Guide is intended for contractors who carry out electrical installation work in dwellings, including houses and flats. It provides information and guidance relating to the design, construction, inspection, testing and certification of domestic electrical installation work, and is intended to promote good practice and aid understanding of the fundamental concepts of protection for safety. The guidance is based on the requirements of BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations, and references to Regulation numbers are to those contained in that Standard.
This Guide is intended to complement other authoritative guidance published by the NICEIC, ELECSA and other reputable bodies.
Why contractors prefer NICEIC and ELECSA Site Guide
"This Site Guide has more detail in the way that an engineer can practically test installation drawings with tips and comments. The book is more concise and gives a more practical solution to installing cables to the regulations and also gives guidance on difficult/unusual situations engineers can come across while carrying out electrical installations." - John Radford, Compliance Delivery Manager at Gentoo.
On some earlier copies of the 18th Edition Site Guide, there is an error on page 279.
The test probes shown in Figure 15.12 (a) are shown on the supply side of the RCD, however instead they should be connected to the load side of the RCD.
