    This course has been designed to provide the necessary skills and understanding required to safely isolate the supply to an item of electrical equipment, as well as an understanding of the procedure and knowledge required for initial verification and completion of Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificates. It does not cover works requiring access to consumer units, distribution boards or the installation of circuits.

               

    WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

    This course is intended for operatives who are engaged in maintenance activities involving single-phase electrical equipment. It is important that those undertaking this course are aware of the limited and defined scope that such training provides. Delegates must ensure that they are aware of those limits and, if successful, to not work beyond their level of training, skill, experience, and knowledge. 

    Delegates attending this training must have a fundamental understanding of electrical principles, additionally, a working knowledge of BS 7671 would be beneficial. Due to the limited nature of this course, employers are advised to ensure that, as appropriate, delegates attending are given the opportunity to practice and further develop skills in the workplace under supervision of someone suitably qualified to make judgements on performance against industry standards. 

                   

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Delegates will gain an understanding of how to safely isolate the supply to an item of electrical equipment to allow for the removal and replacement of individual items of electrical equipment on a  ‘like for like’ basis.

                   

    COURSE OUTLINE

    • Legislation and guidance relating to electrical work,

     • Electrical isolation of single-phase low voltage supplies,

     • Information relating to the service position,

     • Understanding final circuit arrangements and associated protective devices,

     • Protection for safety,

     • Electrical connections and the requirements for making electrically sound connections,

     • The need and requirements relating to initial verification of completed work,

     • The need and requirements relating to the certification of completed ‘like for like’ electrical work.
